Celebrating an elegant woman, member of the Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, a Lady Evangelist and a mother, Tpl Ruth Bosede Akinyemi who clocked another year recently, in this interview with Oluwaseun Sonde, speaks on how she went through enormous struggles and giving her life to Christ led to her determination for a better life.

Can we get to know you?

Lady Evangelist, Bosede Akinyemi

I’m Tpl, Akinyemi Ruth Bosede. Also Lady Evangelist born to the family of Mr and Mrs Agboola from Ibadan, Oyo State. Married to Pastor Timothy Ayobami Akinyemi spanned to 16 years now, mother of Three by His grace.

I went to Ebeneseri Nursery and Primary School, Saint Anne’s School, Molete and The Polytechnic, Ibadan where I studied Urban and Regional Planning, popularly known as Town Planning. A Registered Town Planner and full member of Nigeria Institute of Town Planners. I’m a christian and full member of Bible Based Church Inc.

How is like celebrating another year?

So great and magnificent..,..because it’s a priveledge of seeing God as my coverage, peace, protector, provider… and all He has done for me. I’m full of joy and believing in the fulfillment of good promises in this my new year.

Can you take us through your experience in life?

Wonderful !!! From childhood….My birth to this world was a challenging one because my mum was sick during my delivery according to history so I was unable to be breastfed for days… But still God preserve me.

Growing up was another thing entirely in struggling….. Struggling as how? Trying to sort means of livelihood by involving in hawking of different items like moinmoin, groundnuts, kerosene, soap, egg, Gari, oranges, garden eggs, candles, kulikuli????…. just to mention few.

Any child involving in hawking can easily be abused… (A truth statement). But during that period God preserved me. All I went through was because my parent were hustling type and still having many other relations they used to care for.

Went to Secondary school where I gave my life to Christ (1991-92), led me to strong determination of having a better life. Also to Higher institution where I was committed to things of God. Got engaged with my husband because I was determined to give my ‘Yes’ to the person I will marry and God helped me.

Tell us your most happiest moment in life?

My wedding day… Yes, it was my happiest day because I came from Muslim family….so my dad who is muslim led me to the altar. I was not denied that opportunity. Also, it was my joyous day, during the courtship of over 6 years, I was able to come out without being stained and finally crowned with Church wedding through the grace of God.

Your moment of being a wife and mother, how was it like?

Great one. Being a wife is a life adjustment from sprinter. I began to understand my spouse more and more. Have the confidence of having my own home where everything must be properly done… My husband is not the only one I’m accountable to, my in-laws are there to know their dos and don’ts. I thank God I’m balancing all.

Motherhood is a service of joy and needs much patience because our children are not the same despite from same womb. Their strengths and weaknesses are not equal. Both being a wife and mother can be combined without making any jeopardy especially when you have heart of planning and above all love….. it is of more more sacrifices.

What would you say to Nigerian women aspiring to clock your age?

Beautiful, Nigerian women should put God first in all things, Try to avoid anxiety in any situation, according to Bible in Pilippians 4:6. Be a praying wife and mother, have focus and pursue it. Always try to be humble to your spouse and live in love with him and your children. Don’t despite any little beginning. Start somewhere and you get there. Lastly, don’t compare yourself with others and always think of a brighter future.
