NYSC deploys more Technology tools for Skill Acquisition programme

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has said the Scheme has introduced more ICT operations into its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.

He said the SAED initiative has enhanced self reliance in Corps members adding that the introduction of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme into NYSC Orientation Course Content in 2012 has played a significant role in promoting youth empowerment and wealth creation among the Corps Members.

He stated this today in Abuja at the training of Heads of SAED as well as Heads of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from all NYSC State Secretariats including the FCT, with the theme;

“The NYSC Integrated System: A Panacea for Effective Management of SAED Activities During the Service Year”.

According to the DG, the technical training workshop was targeted at equipping the Desk Officers with the requisite digital knowledge to enhance their active performances on the NYSC Integrated System (NIS).

General Ahmed, who was represented at the programme by the Director, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mrs Christy Uba said more than One million Corps Members have been trained through the SAED initiative in various skill sets.

He added that the Scheme would continue to rejig its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme so as to comply with the latest trend in the ICT world.

The Director General charged the workshop participants to take advantage of the new SAED module, which has migrated all SAED activities on the NIS to facilitate a fruitful service year for the Corps Members.

Earlier in her address, the Director, ICT, represented by Mrs Aminat Arunah, welcomed the workshop participants and urged them to pay attention to the lectures in order to effectively utilize the training in their respective schedules.

She also stressed that the role of SAED officers on the NIS covers activities from all the 774 Local Government Areas in the country as a result of the post-camp training exercise for the Corps Members.
