In a resounding show of community trust, Martins Onyilokwu Odeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at the Nigeria Export Processing Authority (NEPZA), has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ai’Agboko Community Development Association, Abuja branch.
The election signals a new era for the 11 villages of the Ai’Agboko Clan in Otukpo Local Government, Benue State, as they look to address urgent grassroots development needs.
Dr. Odeh, a seasoned journalist with 15 years of experience at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), steps into his new role with a clear-eyed view of the challenges ahead. In his inaugural address, he did not shy away from the harsh realities facing his people.
Expressing deep dissatisfaction with the poor living conditions across all Otukpo villages, he highlighted the critical lack of basic amenities such as clean water, adequate shelter, access roads, and health facilities in areas like Upu, Edikwu, the Asa series, Akpegede, Ogome, and the wards of Otukpo main town.
But where others might see insurmountable obstacles, Dr. Odeh sees an opportunity for collective action. His strategy is one of collaboration and resource mobilization.
He announced plans to actively engage development partners, wealthy individuals, and community political leaders.
By bringing these stakeholders together, he aims to complement the government’s existing efforts and accelerate the delivery of vital infrastructure to the clamoring communities.
Accepting the mantle of leadership, Dr. Odeh emphasized that his tenure would be defined by fairness, transparency, and unwavering dedication.
He expressed profound gratitude to
the members who participated in the democratic process, calling their confidence in him both an honor and a solemn obligation.
Paying tribute to the founding members and past leaders, he acknowledged the strong foundation they had built, which would serve as the bedrock for future progress.
“Our diversity should be our strength, our culture our pride, and our unity our greatest asset,” Dr. Odeh declared, urging members to set aside personal differences.
He firmly believes that the association’s greatest power lies in its collective wisdom and shared commitment.
Calling on every member to renew their dedication, he opened his doors to
constructive suggestions and innovative ideas, pledging to lead with integrity and
openness.
Joining Dr. Odeh in steering the association into this new chapter is a robust team of elected executives, including Engr. Owoicho Ammo as Vice Chairman, Ina Ali as Speaker, and Emiene Odeh as Chairlady.
