United States Government has authorized its 32nd drawdown of arms and equipment for Ukraine since August 2021, which is valued at $450 million, as the President, Joe Biden announced during his visit the country on Monday.
Secretary of State, Antony Blinken who made this known, said that $10 million additional to support ongoing efforts to keep Ukraine’s energy infrastructure up and running in the face of Russia’s relentless missile and drone attacks.
He stated that this security assistance package includes more ammunition for US-provided HIMARS and Howitzers that Ukraine is using so effectively to defend their country as well as more Javelins, anti-armor systems, and air surveillance radars.
According to him, “This week, we mark one year since the Russian Government launched its brutal and unprovoked invasion against Ukraine.
“President Putin expected a quick victory, but despite inflicting widespread destruction and human suffering, he has fundamentally underestimated the boundless courage and steadfast resolve of the people of Ukraine, and the support for Ukraine in the international community”, he said.
Blinken noted that the United States will continues to rally the world to support Ukraine. “We have seen incredible solidarity from our allies and partners.
“We applaud the more than 50 countries who have come together in solidarity with Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Russia alone could end its war today. Until it does so, we will stand united with Ukraine for as long as it takes to strengthen its military on the battlefield so that they will be in the strongest possible position at any future negotiating table”, he said.
US President who paid an unaware visit to Ukraine’s capital, Kyvi to meet with Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy to reaffirm his country’s unwavering, unflagging commitment to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Where he announced another delivery of critical equipment, including artillery ammunition, anti-armor systems, and air surveillance radars to help protect the Ukrainian people from aerial bombardments.
And shared that later this week, United States will announce additional sanctions against elites and companies that are trying to evade or backfill Russia’s war machine.
Adding that over the last year, the United States has built a coalition of nations from the Atlantic to the Pacific to help defend Ukraine with unprecedented military, economic, and humanitarian support and that support will endure.
Mr. Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have repeatedly appealed to the U.S. and other allies for more heavy weaponry especially jet fighters and long-range missiles which he says can help drive the Russians back.
Military analysts have suggested that Russian President, Vladimir Putin may try to wear down the West by keeping the conflict going until support from Ukraine’s allies erodes and Western powers try to push Kyiv to the negotiating table.
