The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has lauded the Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and operational success of Corps Members nationwide.
Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director General of the NYSC, expressed profound gratitude during a recent courtesy visit to Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Jos.
General Nafiu emphasized that the very essence of the NYSC Scheme hinges on a secure and conducive environment.
He highlighted that the consistent efforts of security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army, are paramount to the Scheme’s achievements.
A testament to this vital partnership, he noted, is the fact that no Orientation Course in any state under the 3 Division’s jurisdiction has ever been cancelled due to security concerns.
Currently, over 7,000 Corps Members are actively contributing to the socio- economic development of Plateau State, serving in various primary assignments.
The Director General underscored the NYSC’s enduring role in fostering national unity, integration, and social cohesion through inter-tribal marriages, cultural exchange, and youth empowerment initiatives.
He also pointed to the Scheme’s significant contributions to the health and education sectors, with Corps doctors, nurses, and teachers deployed across the country.
In his remarks, the 3 Division GOC, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, commended the DG for the remarkable initiatives and achievements recorded since he assumed office as the Chief Executive of the Service Corps.
He described the Director General as a worthy ambassador of the Nigerian Army and also lauded the NYSC Plateau State Coordinator, members of staff and Corps Members for their dedication and outstanding performance in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.
“Whether we like it or not, testimonies abound about the positive impact of the NYSC. Keep up the good work, and I am confident you will continue to take the Scheme to greater heights,” the GOC said.
General Oyinlola reaffirmed the commitment of the 3 Division, Nigerian Army, to ensuring the safety and security of Corps Members serving within its area of responsibility at all times.
