Bimbo Adegboyega: AGS ’93 set presents cash gift to deceased family

In compassion and love for one another, the Anglican Grammar School, Okenla Ifo, Class of ’93 has presented a cash gift to the family of its beloved member, Abimbola Odunsi (nee Adegboyega) who passed on January 9th, 2024, after suffering a minor legs pain.

The presentation was made during the 8th Day Prayer Service for the deceased at her residence in Lagos on Thursday, which had the set Chairman, Dotun Shofolahan, Vice Chairman, Taiwo Ogundeko, the Finance Secretary, Afolabi Ewedairo, the PRO, Wasiu Biobaku and some of the members in attendance.

Abimbola Adegboyega, aged 49, complained of legs pain before giving up the ghost on January 9, 2025, a dedicated nurse who was full of life, love during the set End of The Year celebration held last year, spoke to members to love, help one another, also encouraged members on health and wellness.
Speaking on behalf of the set, the spokesman, Wasiu Biobaku consoled with the deceased family, narrated how shocking the demise of Abimbola, who was full of life during the set End of The Year celebration, he prayed for the removal of sudden death from the family and the set.

“Death, you have not done it well this time around. Unknown to us that Abimbola was giving her last speech during get-together. This is a big lesson for us to learn as long as we are still breathing. One day the breath will seize but our deed whether good or bad will not be forgotten”, he said.

Receiving the cash gift on behalf of the family, deceased sister, Bukola Adegboyega expressed gratitude for the kind gesture, appreciated the set for massively gracing the deceased 8th Day Prayer Service, prayed for abundant blessing for the set and decreed no more untimely death.


While reflecting on Abimbola’s speech at the AGS ’93 End of The Year celebration on the group platform, Adedayo Adewunmi, the set Ass. Senior Boy and one of the group pioneer said, “The way Bimbo spoke passionately about taking care of our health shows she’s takes life seriously and she will never do anything risky.
“I saw her as a very religious woman too. But the fact of life is that you simply can’t be too careful. Death is a debt we all owe. Kashama shey dada. God bless her soul. This is too painful. Had to stop what I was doing in the office for now because it’s too hard to make a sense of this”.

He added, “Bimbo’s speech on the 28th was like a mom admonishing his children. Before, I considered Kenny, Rashidat, Bukola or Say shoe and a few others our mothers because they like to protect stubborn children like this writer and some others”.

Adewunmi revealed that he personally escorted Abimbola out of the venue that day and had some conversations before she left. “Though I reconnected with her after more than 30 years, but I felt like it was yesterday we left AGS. I will miss you, Bimbo. May God grant you eternal rest”, he said.

Also, Ganiu Sanni popularly known as “Shukulube” among his set said, Abimbola dedicated her life for Christ since secondary school days, a devout born-again Christian and a cheerful person.

He added, “I can’t forget those school, street life, when she used to return from fellowship through my street, I had to follow her to their house. Hmnnn… Omo Iya Shina, Orun rere ooo”.
Abosede Adekunle, the set deputy spokesperson said, “What Bimbo was preaching during our end of the year celebration, for that fact alone, we should please try and relate fine with one another.

“No matter high level you are, is not by your making, is God that put you there, and you can not change the fact that we are classmates.

“In fact l was not aware of the reunion before, when l heard about it, l was so happy which prompted my determination to attend the party, to see my longed friends, not knowing dat, this will give me opportunity to see Bimbo last”, she said.

Abimbola Adegboyega attended Anglican Grammar School, obtained her secondary school certificate in 1993, she went further to School of Nursing Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where she got her general nursing and later proceeded to nursing school Okene in Kogi State to obtain her Pediatric.

Abimbola Adegboyega was a pediatrician, served at the Lagos State General Hospital, Igando for 17year and later transferred to Ifako Ijaye General Hospital in 2023 where she works till her death. She was a mother and a wife to Olukoya Odunsi.
