Critics as Biden proclaims Easter Sunday, Transgender Day

Some people have criticized the United States of American President, Joe Biden for declaring Easter Sunday, March 31, as the Transgender Day of Visibility.

The President made the proclamation in a statement released by the White House on Friday while calling all Americans to join in lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people throughout the Nation and to work toward eliminating violence, discrimination based on gender identity.

He writes: “I, Joseph R. Biden Jr., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility”.

“I call upon all Americans to join us in lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people throughout our Nation and to work toward eliminating violence, discrimination against transgender, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary people”, the President said.

“Easter Sunday, most significant day of the Christian calendar, when the Church around the world celebrates resurrection of Jesus Christ who died and shed His blood for the sins of mankind, the Biden administration uses this opportunity to flaunt sin, to glorify sin, and to celebrate sin”, Franklin Graham said on his social media platform.

The former President, Donald Trump in his reaction called on President Joe Biden to issue an apology after declaring Easter Sunday as Transgender Day of Visibility.

“I call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only — the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” said Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s National Press Secretary.

An entrepreneur, Vivek Remaswamy made his comments on X, saying Joe Biden declaring the most holy day for Christians as “Transgender Visibility Day” is a slap in the face to every American, whatever their faith.

“Now the White House is banning any religious symbolism on Easter Eggs. We’re in the middle of a war in this country – and take it from a Hindu, that isn’t a “Christian nationalist” talking point”, he said.

Also, the aide to former Nigerian Vice President, Reno Omokri said on X, “Even though I do not celebrate or associate with Easter, I still find it very disturbing that President Joe Biden has declared Easter Sunday Transgender Day.

“I am still trying to believe this is some how fake news. But I read the official statement on the White House website titled ‘A Proclamation on Transgender Day of Visibility, 2024’, and I am at a loss for words.

“Even if you must do such a thing, why on Easter Sunday? It seems like a slap on the face of the billions of people worldwide who consider tomorrow (Easter Sunday) holy, especially hundreds of millions of Christians who live in America. I am not even sure a Muslim country would treat Easter in such a disrespectful manner.

“This is not an attack on transgender people. God loves all people including transgender individuals. However, to please one group of citizens at the expense of others does not seem like something an elected government should do when there are better ways to go about this.

“I am all for a more inclusive world, but we have to do so within reason. How does it make sense to do this in a country party founded by pilgrims?

“I pray that the Biden administration would think twice about this action and consider its effect on the sensibilities of the millions of people in America who hold Easter Sunday as a holy day. Perhaps he can pick another day for his new Transgender Day instead of one that has been holy to a large number of Americans for centuries and even millennia”.
