Dabiri-Erewa host Miss Universe Nigeria, calls for unity in Africa

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called for unity in Africa and urged Nigerians in Diaspora with Dual Citizenship to keep in touch with home, and always be proud of their Nigerian citizenship.

Dabiri-Erewa stated this when She received Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, at NIDCOM’s Office in Lagos.
NIDCOM Boss stated that Chidinma’s resilience, given the circumstances surrounding her emergence as Miss Universe Nigeria, is admirable and represents the creative energies and belligerence of Nigerians all over.

“If you have dual citizenship, don’t take the second one for granted. Nigeria has been there in this trying moment for you but I am glad you are home”.
Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, visibly impressed with the hospitality and warmth accorded her, thanked the Chairman/CEO, (NIDCOM), and has this to say, “I am so honoured to be sitting in front of you and thank you for this beautiful reception.”

She continued, “I wear this crown with immense pride and I am committed to making Nigeria proud”.

Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, is to represent Nigeria at the Miss World 2024 in Mexico later in the year.


Also present was Mr Guy Murray-Bruce, organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria beauty paegent, who said they were glad to have offered Chidinma the platform to contest.

Later at a reception, Music Legend D’Banj also commended Chidinma’s resilience and determination, and entertained the crowd with a special performance for her.

Miss Chidimma Onwe Adetshina had been forced to withdraw from the beauty pageant in South Africa due to her dual nationality though being born there, twenty-three years ago.
