The Diaspora Boys Movement says it is mobilising Nigerians in more than 100 countries to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group’s Director-General, Tunde Olofin, disclosed this on Tuesday at the Association of Corporate Online Editors’ Roundtable Initiative in Abuja, saying the movement had established coordinators and support structures across Nigeria and abroad.
Olofin attributed the group’s backing to what it described as major economic, youth empowerment and infrastructure reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration since 2023.
He cited the removal of the petrol subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market as difficult but necessary measures that, according to the movement, had helped strengthen government revenue, improve fiscal stability and boost Nigeria’s investment outlook.
The group also praised youth-focused initiatives, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the 3 Million Technical Talent programme.
It said government figures showed that NELFUND had supported more than 1.5 million students as of May 2026, with over N282 billion disbursed.
On infrastructure, the movement highlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Highway, railway expansion, power-sector reforms and agricultural investments as projects capable of improving connectivity and stimulating economic growth.
While acknowledging that some reforms had placed pressure on citizens, Olofin urged Nigerians to remain patient, arguing that the measures were beginning to produce positive results, including stronger foreign reserves and renewed investor interest.
Beyond the 2027 election, the movement said it would campaign for diaspora voting, allowing eligible Nigerians living abroad to participate in elections without travelling home.
“We are going to challenge, push and champion the National Assembly,” Olofin said, calling for collaboration among lawmakers and other stakeholders.
The organisation said it has members and structures in countries including the United States, France, Malaysia, The Gambia, Sudan and Turkey. Although it is still compiling its membership figures, it said its international network would support continued civic engagement on governance, development and national unity.
