The National Executives of the Federal Parastatals & Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPAN) have commended and congratulated Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Executive Secretary, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme on her reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the Directorate’s headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, as contained in a statement released by the Directorate.
FEPPAN commended the Dr Ejikeme and her team on the regular and prompt payment of monthly pension, the successful completion of verification, the “I Am Alive” confirmation exercise which has made it easy for verified pensioners to confirm aliveness from the comfort of their homes.
Some of the issues raised include – pensioners complaints arising from the Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD) back-end computation and were yet to get the letter giving a comprehensive breakdown of the computed monthly pension; status on palliatives to pensioners; harmonization of pensions and recognition of FEPPAN as a registered Pension Union.
In her response, the E.S. thanked FEPPAN for their support and the confidence reposed in her and assured them she will consolidate on the gains from her first tenure.
Which she said was successful because of the Federal Government’s committment to release funds to clear outstanding pension arrears and pay monthly pensions regular.
Dr Ejikeme reiterated that the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) will continue to improve on the welfare of pensioners.
She assured them that PTAD is collaborating with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation with regards the Conditional Cash Transfer/Palliative and will issue a statement when more information is received.
On the issue of harmonization and pension review, ES assured them that PTAD and relevant agencies are representing this to the new government and she is optimistic of a favorable outcome.
With regards the PaPD back-end computation, PTAD ES assured them that all complaints will be investiagted and resolved in due course while the Directorate would explore other options to dispatch letters to pensioners which were returned undelivered.
Dr. Ejikeme used the opportunity to reassure FEPPAN that they are recognized as the representatives of pensioners and that they and the NUP have to work in harmony in the interest of pensioners.
