In a significant development, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its dedication to advancement of education in Nigeria by expressing its support for the Commonwealth Students’ Association (CSA).
CSA, an international organization advocating for the rights of students from Commonwealth countries made it known that this collaboration marks a milestone in pursuit of educational development and amplification of students’ voices across.
In a letter dated 6th May, 2024, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, conveyed his commendation for the vision, efforts of the CSA in promoting and safeguarding the rights of students.
Recognizing the establishment of CSA’s regional office in Nigeria, the Minister expressed his delight and pledged the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with the organization in achieving its goals.
The Country Representative of CSA, Comrade Chidubem Nwaibe, reciprocated the Minister’s appreciation and thanked him for his leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s education system.
Nwaibe extended the congratulations to Prof. Tahir Mamman on the transformative policies he has implemented, highlighting their potential to redefine the education landscape in the country.
The Commonwealth Students’ Association (CSA) is an international confederation of Student Organizations (SO) and Unions (SU) across the 56 member states of the Commonwealth.
Since its establishment in Nigeria, CSA has made significant contributions to education sector. Notably, it hosted the Commonwealth Youth and Students Summit (CYSS) for the Africa Region in Abuja in 2023, a platform that fostered dialogue and collaboration among students.
The organization also prioritized advocacies for student safety and security, providing well-researched policy documents to support the formulation and implementation of educational policies in Nigeria.
