FRSC’s “Operation Safe Kugbo” achieves zero crashes

....... Restricts 858 articulated vehicles

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a safety achievement, reporting zero road traffic crashes involving articulated vehicles along the Kugbo outbound corridor since the launch of “Operation Safe Kugbo” on March 18, 2026.

This ongoing enforcement exercise has successfully restricted 858 articulated vehicles and trucks from operating during peak hours, marking a notable improvement in road safety.

The success of “Operation Safe Kugbo” is attributed to the strategic leadership of the Corps Marshal, whose initiative is firmly grounded in Section 223 National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR) and the FCT Traffic Regulations.

This operation directly supports the Corps’ 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal 1, which aims to substantially reduce road traffic crashes and enhance road safety across the nation.
At the operational level, CRC WF Luka, the Unit Commander for RS7.13 Nyanya, is leading a dedicated team.

Their efforts involve targeted patrols, strategic positioning, and real-time traffic management during high-traffic periods to ensure compliance with the restrictions.

The FRSC emphasizes that the operation will continue with intensified monitoring and enforcement to maintain the recorded gains.
The absence of crashes along the corridor serves as a strong testament to the effectiveness of the initiative and underscores the critical importance of regulating heavy-duty vehicles during busy traffic periods.

Motorists, fleet operators, and truck drivers are urged to adhere strictly to the restriction order.

The FRSC reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and promoting safer roads throughout the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
