Goronyo advocates secure digital pathways for Nigerians

The Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello Goronyo has emphasized that Nigeria’s progress depends not only on strong highways and bridges but also on secure digital highways that connect citizens to opportunities, services, and safety.
Goronyo disclosed this at the 7th Edition of National Day of Identity Celebrations, held on 16th September, 2025, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, organized by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

He noted that the Ministry of Works is committed to complementing NIMC’s efforts by ensuring that as physical roads are developed, the nation’s digital pathways of identity and trust are equally reinforced.
The Minister who commended the Director General of NIMC, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, for her visionary leadership underscored the relevance of this year’s theme: “Public Key Infrastructure: The Backbone to Digital Public Infrastructure.”

He affirmed that, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Federal Govt is aligning physical and digital infrastructure planning across sectors to ensure that every Nigerian enjoys benefits of modern development supported by a reliable digital identity system.
Goronyo stressed that Nigeria’s full participation in the global digital economy depends on secure and inclusive identity systems.

He assured stakeholders that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with NIMC and other partners in building integrated frameworks that empower citizens and drive sustainable national development.
