Guber elections: Abiodun showers praises to Ogun people for victorious

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has praised people of the state for his reelection victory, adding that the people have showed overwhelming love and consent to the continuity of good and inclusive governance.

The incumbent Governor disclosed this on his social media platform, after he was declared winner of the just concluded Governorship and State House of Assembly elections on Saturday, 18th March, 2023.

According to him, “To the glory of God, Ogun State Gubernatorial Elections have come and gone, and the good people of the Gateway State have spoken with a common voice with their PVCs.

“I speak for myself and my family, the entire Administration and team, and our great party the All Progressives Congress (APC).



“When I say we are extremely grateful to the politically conscious people of Ogun State for this overwhelming show of love and consent to the continuity of good and inclusive governance”, he added.

The Governor stated that for retaining his Government in office is a direct charge to invest more in the State and people, leaving Ogun State in the next four years better than how it was met it in the last four.

Abiodun said, “As we have so far done and as we conspicuously promised during our statewide campaigns.

“We will maintain equitable distribution of state resources to the betterment of Infrastructure, Social welfare and wellbeing, Education, Youth development, Agriculture and food security (ISEYA)”, he promised.

He appreciated the party leadership, party faithful, supporters and well- wishers for time and private resources overwhelmingly invested in this laudable success. “By God’s grace, we will not take what the good people of Ogun State have honoured us with today”, he said.



The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, on Sunday, declared the Ogun governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dapo Abiodun, winner after polling 276,298 votes.

Abiodun defeated the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Oladipupo Adebutu who polled 262,383 votes, and 12 other candidates.

Defeating Adebutu by 13,915 votes. The results of the political parties, as declared by INEC, were as follows; Accord – 724, Action Alliance – 382, African Action Congress – 2613, Action Democratic Congress – 94,753.

Action Democratic Party – 2770, All Progress Congress – 276,298, Allied People Movement – 2066, Action Peoples Party – 207.

New Nigeria Peoples Party – 1394
National Rescue Movement – 779
Peoples Democratic Party – 262,383
Peoples Redemption Party – 248
Social Democratic Party – 515.
