“Don’t blame anyone for not going to school or not succeeding in life. I am Dr. Mrs. Ige Favour Fadeke, and my story is a testament to resilience.
I was born in 1974 into a Muslim home, while growing up I battled with poverty and lack of education. But I chose to rise above my circumstances.
As the saying goes, “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Nelson Mandela.
I faced numerous challenges, from living with my half-sister to struggling with finances. But my perseverance and determination paid off.
Remember, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill. I failed my WAEC, but I didn’t give up. I re-enrolled and worked hard to achieve distinctions.
But here’s the thing, no one sent me to school. I had to rely on my own efforts to get an education. And that’s where hawking came in. Yes, you read that right! Hawking, or selling wears and accessories, was my ticket to education.
As I always say, “If you will succeed in life, don’t lose focus.” Stay committed to your goals, and don’t let anyone discourage you. “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt.
But to achieve greatness, you must be willing to make adjustments. “You cannot continue to live a careless lifestyle and still expect greatness, blessings, miracles, and favor to manifest in your life.” Take responsibility for your actions, and make conscious choices.
As Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” Keep learning, growing, and pushing yourself beyond your limits.
Surround yourself with positive influences, and seek guidance from mentors. “You cannot do away with a mentor.” And always remember, “You reap what you sow.” Be generous, kind, and selfless, and you will attract good things into your life.
And most importantly, never underestimate the power of hard work and determination. As I did, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve greatness through your own efforts. Keep pushing forward, even when the journey gets tough. You got this!
