The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken deliberate and necessary steps to stabilise Nigeria’s economy, strengthen national security, and lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity.
Idris stated this on Friday night at a dinner with All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, as contained in a statement released by his aide.
Addressing party leaders and members of the APC support groups, Idris thanked them for their loyalty and continued support, describing them as a critical pillar of the party and its success.
He said the APC came into govt at a difficult time for the country, requiring bold decisions to address long-standing economic and security challenges, while keeping the future of Nigeria in focus.
According to the Minister, the Tinubu administration has already recorded positive signs from its reform agenda, including improved investor confidence, increased oil production, better revenue performance, and targeted support for states, businesses, and vulnerable Nigerians.
He stressed that transparent communication and citizen engagement remain central to the administration’s approach, noting that reforms must be explained clearly to Nigerians to build trust and shared national purpose.
Quoting the President, Idris said the four sectors are closely linked, as security is essential for investment, education and health drive productivity, infrastructure supports jobs and enterprise growth.
He explained that national security remains a top priority in 2026, with plans to modernise armed forces, strengthen intelligence-driven policing, improve border security, deploy technology-based surveillance, and support community- level peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
He urged them to actively support the 2026 budget, tagged the “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity,” and help Nigerians understand its goals and benefits.
“As ambassadors of our party, your role in mobilising, informing, and strengthening public confidence in our policies is more important than ever,” Idris said.
The Minister called for unity and renewed commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging party members to continue working with President Tinubu to build a stronger, more secure, and more prosperous Nigeria.
The event was attended by the Honourable Minister of State, Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari, Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Abdulhamid Dembos; Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bulama; Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba-Ndace, and the leaders of several APC Support Groups.
