The former United States Vice President, Mike Pence who with the title: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is dead and the world is a safer place” on X, hoped and prayed that Raisi’s death will give the people of Iran a chance to claim their birthright of freedom and end Iran’s long reign of terror.
According to him, “Raisi was responsible for the murder of thousands of Iranian political prisoners he ordered executed in 1988, 1,500 Iranians slaughtered in the 2019 protests and the years of terrorist violence sown by Iran across the region that claimed American lives”.
The European Union offered its condolences for the death of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian and other Iranian officials involved in the tragic helicopter crash on Sunday.
According to the statement released by the High Representative, Josep Borell on Monday while the Union expressed its sympathies to the families of all the victims and to the Iranian citizens affected.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, reports has it that the chopper transporting the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian was reportedly crashed with their conditions unknown.
According to the Cable, the search and rescue teams scoured the mountainous terrain amid heavy fog overnight, and found the wreckage early Monday.
While the Islamic Republic News Agency reports the announcement of President Raisi’s death that early Monday morning.
Local officials at the crash site confirmed the death of Raisi and his entourage. The Iranian government said it would soon release an official statement.
The helicopter reportedly suffered a “hard landing” near Jolfa, a city bordering Azerbaijan, about 600km (375 miles) northwest of Tehran, the Iranian capital.
Raisi, 63, was elected president on his second attempt in 2021. He was regarded as a potential successor to Ayatollah Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader, who has held the position since 1989.
