LAWMA announces worker’s tragic death to road accident

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has announced tragic passing of one of its sanitation workers, Bashiru Nuhu, whose life lost in a road accident involving a mini-bus and its operational trucks in Ketu area of the State.

Contrary to some reports circulating in the media, in a statement released on Tuesday the Agency wish to clarify that its truck was carrying out routine waste evacuation assignment when the unfortunate incident occurred.
It explained that at the time of the accident, the truck was properly parked by the roadside with its amber warning lights on, in accordance with standard safety procedures.

Revealing that the collision resulted from a mini-bus travelling at high speed, which lost control and crashed into the stationary truck.
The Agency extended its deepest condolences to the deceased family, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time, adding that Mr Nuhu’s service, commitment to keeping the city clean will never be forgotten.

LAWMA said it has initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure that all facts are established and justice is served.
