A Nigerian, Mr Wale Akinyemi living around Idimu, Oshodi Business Unit of Lagos State has called out IKEDC Ikeja Electric over what he described as the “height of inhumane” towards unmetered customers.
Mr Akinyemi, speaking to Media Bypass News on Monday after being frustrated over the outrageous billing given to him in May, said that he felt unfairly treated and very upset.
According to him, “I will start by expressing my feelings as being victimized, oppressed and frustrated. The peak of this frustration came in April 2024 when I was overbilled in one of my accounts which I reported and was adjusted”.
He added, “But the greater confusion came in May 2024 billing when the same account was extra-overbilled. Let me stay clear”, Mr Akinyemi lamented.
Mr Akinyemi narrated that he reported in April 2024, that one of his accounts was overbilled with a whopping sum of N97,000 and the other two accounts billed N29,000 each, leaving the total payment for April 2024, to be N156,000.
“Though I got an adjustment of 84,000. I appreciate”, he said. While listed that in April 2024: Account A ( 0100240715 ) N97,995; Account B ( 0102787957 ) N 29,284; and Account C ( 0102787959 ) 29,284 with a total of N156,583 but adjusted to N84,000.
“I’m at a loss for words. It seems like someone is deliberately causing these issues. It is now I understand why all these is happening to my account. Anytime I made an effort to clear my arrears, I will just notice that the subsequent month will be overbilled, I don’t know why.
“In April, Account A was on Tariff Non-MD but after I complained, the May 2024 reads B-MD1. Is now cleared that someone is here to frustrate me. Please note, I have additional two other accounts. What a life and country!
“This is the highest injustice and wicked acts from IKEDC. Please come to my rescue and save me from this wicked acts. This over billing should be reversed and please let the prepaid meter be available. Stop hoarding the prepaid meters”, he cried out.
Mr Akinyemi concluded that this is shameful to a country like Nigeria, the meter that supposed to be shared to customer without payment. “But even with your money, you can’t get it easily”, he lamented.
