NYSC, Anambra Govt sets to establish Skill Acquisition Centre

The Acting Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Christy Ifeyinwa Uba has expressed willingness of the Scheme to collaborate with Anambra State Government to establish Skill Acquisition Centre in the State.

Uba disclosed this when she paid a courtesy visit on the wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo at the Government House, Amawbia, Awka as contained in statement released by the Scheme Spokesman, Eddy Megwa on Monday.

The Acting DG added that citing a Skill Acquisition Centre in the State will further boost the business climate and skills of the youth population in the South-East region and the country at large.



Mrs Uba, who is a native of Anambra State expressed joy to be back home while she urged other State Governments to emulate Governor Charles Soludo in the provision of critical Camp facilities and other support for the Scheme in the State.

Responding, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo congratulated Mrs Uba on her appointment as the Acting Director General of the Scheme and equally commended her for the visit.

The Anambra State First Lady said plans are underway to build Mega Skill Acquisition Centres in the State and collaboration with NYSC would facitate the eventual take-off and development of the Centres.

She further stated that the Skill Acquisition Centres when completed will train about five thousand (5,000) youths in different skill sets, enhance their productivity, make them self-reliant and employers of labour.

She assured the NYSC helmsman of adequate security and welfare for Corps members in the State and her determination to continue to support NYSC, as the programme falls under her priority projects targeted at the children, youths and Women.

Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator Anambra State, Mrs Blessing Iruma told the Governor’s wife that the Acting Director General was in the State on her routine tour of Orientation Camps nationwide, and used the opportunity to thank the Government and good people of Anambra State for their support to the Scheme.
