NYSC at 50: NGO donates 50 laptops for Scheme smooth operations

As the National Youth Service Corps NYSC celebrates its 50th Anniversary of tremendous contributions to national development soon, a Non-Governmental Organisation, What Next Africa, has donated fifty new laptop computers to enhance the smooth operations of the Scheme.

The organization also applauded the contributions of the NYSC in the areas of education, health, rural development and other sectors in the last fifty years, which was contained in statement released by the Scheme Spokesman, Eddy Megwa on Thursday.



Speaking during the presentation of the laptop computers to the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed at the Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Director of the NGO, What Next Africa, Temitope Ogunlusi described Corps Members as good role models to the young ones who needs the support of every stakeholder.

He said the organisation prepares students for post-secondary life, adding that was the need to stem the tide of challenges from transiting from teenage to adulthood.



In his remarks during the presentation, the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka described What Next Africa as a Trans- Continental organisation that prioritizes career development, guidance and counselling of Secondary School students, but decided to add value to the human capital development of the NYSC.

While appreciating the donor on behalf of the Scheme, the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed promised the effective utilization of the computers.
