Ogun State Government has intensified readiness for the upcoming Gateway Games OGUN 2024, the National Sports Festival set to hold from May 16th to May 30th, 2025.
In a statement released by the State Government, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, expressed deep admiration for the discipline and commitment shown by Team Ogun athletes in the buildup to the Games.
According to him, “This is more than just a sporting event,” the Governor stated. “Gateway Games OGUN 2024 is our opportunity to showcase extraordinary talent, resilience, and excellence that Ogun State is known for.”
“We are setting a new benchmark with strategic investments in sports infrastructure and youth development. Our athletes are the embodiment of vision, dedication, and the enduring spirit of our people,” he said.
The Gateway Games OGUN 2024 is expected to bring together athletes from across Nigeria in a celebration of unity, competition, and cultural pride.
“As a people, we stand solidly behind our athletes,” Governor Abiodun added. “We believe in their potential, and together, Ogun State will not only host a successful festival—we will shine as champions on and off the field.”
The National Sports Festival, popularly referred to as Nigeria’s “Olympics,” is being hosted by Ogun State for the first time in over a decade and is anticipated to leave a lasting legacy on the State’s sporting landscape.
