The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the administration of
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the release of the 2026 Global Terrorism Index (GTI), which ranks Nigeria fourth globally in terms of the impact of terrorism.
In a press statement issued on Thursday by Comrade Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary, the opposition party accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of “dancing on blood” as citizens face unprecedented levels of insecurity.
According to the report by the Institute for Economics and Peace, Nigeria, the Africa’s giant with alongside four other nations, accounted for nearly 70 percent of all terrorism- related deaths worldwide.
The index also highlighted that Nigeria experienced one of the two largest increases in terrorism deaths globally.
“While this report is not surprising to Nigerians, it is most painful that people who promised and were elected and appointed to secure our country are wining, dining, dancing in a faraway land, whilst terrorists are killing and kidnapping citizens rampantly,” Ememobong stated.
The party further alleged that under President Tinubu’s watch, insecurity has evolved into a “trillion-naira economy.”
Calling for a shift in strategy, the PDP urged the President and the nation’s security hierarchy to abandon reactive responses to attacks. Instead, they advocated for a “wholeof-society approach” to combat insecurity effectively.
“It needs reminding that the primary duty of every Government is the protection of lives and property—a task that this administration has consistently failed glaringly,” the statement read.
The PDP concluded with an appeal to President Tinubu to utilize his renowned political mastery to resolve the ongoing security crisis, noting that “Nigerians are tired of being killed for no reason.
