The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General, Brig Gen YD Ahmed has urged Staff and Corps members to imbibe, apply spirit of selflessness as demonstrated by Prophet lbrahim, in discharging of the mandate of the Scheme.
The DG who made the appeal in his message to celebrate Eid-el-kabir on Sunday said that one important lesson of this festival is the abolition of selfishness in someone’s life and offer sacrifices, while prayed for purification of the heart, protection of loved ones.
According to him, “On behalf of management, staff and Corps Members of the National Youth Service Corps, I felicitate with the Muslem Umma on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El Kabir celebration. I thank the Almighty Allah for his grace to be alive today to be part of this celebration”.
NYSC unveils media department, tasks officers on professionalism
Also, the National Youth Service Corps in it’s bid to scale up more effective publication of the critical roles of the Scheme in the socio- economic development of Nigeria secured Federal Government’s approval for the creation of Media Department.
According to the statement released by the Scheme, which said the noble feat would facilitate effective administration, utilization of both NYSC radio and Television stations in the pursuit of the Scheme’s mandate.
The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed announced this in his address at the 2024 Public Relations and Protocol Officers Workshop, with the theme; “Retooling NYSC Public Relations Officers For Modern Corporate Image Management”, held in Abuja.
He commended the NYSC Public Relations Officers for their diligence in the discharge of their official responsibilities, including ensuring efficient management of NYSC public functions and adequate publicity of NYSC programmes, which has enhanced the good image of the Scheme.
“While Management would continue to expand the coast of Public Relations Officers, it expects you to fulfil the statutory requirement for the practice of Public Relations by enrolling into the relevant professional bodies as members”, the DG said.
In his address, the Director, Information and Public Relations, Mr Eddy Megwa said the annual NYSC Public Relations Officers’ Workshop is a veritable platform for officers to acquire requisite knowledge on contemporary issues influencing the practice of the profession.
He added that it is a training programme meant to keep officers on top of their game with a view to equip them adequately for effective management of the corporate image of the Scheme.
There were goodwill messages from the President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr Ike Neliaku and National President, Nigerian Union of Journalists, represented by the National Secretary, Mr Achike Chide.
