Sarauniya Charity Foundation transforms lives in Keffi, Nasarawa

In a poignant display of community engagement, Sarauniya Charity Foundation (SCF) took its mission of empowerment to the heart of Keffi, Nassarawa State, through a comprehensive Health Outreach Program for Girls.

The event, conducted on the 12th of November 2023, was a stirring initiative aimed at providing essential health education and resources to young girls in the region.

The primary objective of the program was to educate young girls on menstrual hygiene, proper use of sanitary pads, and the critical need to protect themselves from infections.

SCF selected four prominent schools in Keffi for this initiative – Pivotal Girls Secondary School, Government Secondary School Yalwa, ECWA Girls Secondary School, and Girls Science Secondary School Keffi.

The event commenced punctually at 10:00 am, with diverse array of attendees including representatives from the health ministry, school principals, local media, and esteemed community leaders.

The presence of the Emir of Keffi’s representative added a touch of cultural significance to the occasion.

The health outreach began with comprehensive sensitization lectures by health ministry representatives, Fatima Dantsoho & Maryam Nasidi.

These sessions not only disseminated vital information but also encouraged an open dialogue between health officials and the students, fostering an environment of continuous learning.

A pivotal moment in the day was the distribution of sanitary kits spearheaded by SCF’s Vice-President, Haj. Jamilah Shuaibu.

A total of 100 kits were distributed, each containing essential items such as detergent, Dettol antiseptic, tissue rolls, and soap.

The girls, recipients of this thoughtful gesture, expressed their gratitude, echoing appreciation for SCF President, Haj. Amb. Rabiat Umar Said.

Beyond the structured program, the event provided an opportunity for community members to engage with SCF representatives.

A brief interlude allowed the girls to dance, chat with SCF President Haj. Amb. Rabiat Umar Said, and express their appreciation for the initiative.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from the Parent Association of the schools and closing prayers.

SCF Secretary Yusuf Yau, in his closing remarks, acknowledged the success of the day and hinted at the foundation’s future endeavors.

“Our journey has just begun. We look forward to expanding our reach, empowering more communities, and making a lasting impact on the lives of those in need,” he stated.

The Health Outreach Program in Keffi stands as a testament to SCF’s commitment to community well-being and empowerment.

The success of this initiative not only underscores the foundation’s dedication to its mission but also sets a precedent for future endeavors that aim to uplift communities through knowledge and support.

As SCF continues its mission, one can’t help but envision a future where communities are not only healthier but also more informed and empowered.
