The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has launched urgent rehabilitation works on the vandalized Towers J4 and N9–N12 along the Ikot Abasi–Eket 132kV double-circuit transmission line.
During an inspection of the project site on Friday, September 25, 2026, TCN’s Port Harcourt Region confirmed significant progress on the restoration effort.
The Regional Manager, Engr. Nasir Bello, represented by the Assistant General Manager, Transmission, Dr. Ubani Raymond, said the inspection was conducted to ensure strict compliance with engineering standards and address any technical issues promptly.
Dr. Raymond disclosed that the affected towers had been completely dismantled, while their foundations had been recast to provide a solid base for reconstruction.
He urged residents of Ikot Abasi to remain vigilant and help protect critical electricity infrastructure from vandals and other criminal elements.
The Head of Lines, Port Harcourt Transmission Region, Engr. Azuh Lucky, stressed the need for continuous monitoring to guarantee the quality and safety of the rehabilitation works.
He praised TCN management for engaging two contractors to accelerate the project but noted that difficult terrain and persistent rainfall had slowed construction.
Also expressing satisfaction with the progress was the Principal Manager of the Uyo Work Centre, Engr. Eguaikhide Clement, who commended the contractors for responding to the urgency of restoring the vital transmission link.
