The United Kingdom Government through the office of the Foreign Secretary on Sunday, has summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of Iranian Embassy in London over retaliation attack launched on Israel by the Iran and its proxies.
In a statement released by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) spokesperson stated that Iranian authorities must take meaningful, immediate action to de-escalate and halt its reckless and unlawful behaviour.
The UK condemned in the strongest terms Iran’s direct and unprecedented attack against Israel, as well as their violation of Jordan and Iraq’s airspace, saying at a time of great tension in the Middle East, this profoundly dangerous and unnecessary escalation by Iran.
The UK called for the immediate and unconditional release of the civilian ship “MSC Aries” and its crew, which was seized by Iranian armed forces yesterday in international waters.
While vowed that UK will continue to stand up for Israel’s security and the security of all our regional partners, including Jordan and Iraq. “We will also continue to work with our international partners to protect and uphold stability in the region”.
Meanwhile, Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi said in a recent statement that the Iranian armed forces taught the zionist enemy a lesson and any new reckless response from the enemy will be met with a stronger and harsher response.
He stated that the defensive action carried out by the armed forces is a natural right to legitimate defense of his country in response to the zionist aggression on their interests. “Last night’s combined operations carry a message of strength and power to Islamic nation and a message of fear and humiliation to the enemies of humanity.
“Iran has used all regional and international capabilities in recent months to warn the international community of ineffectiveness of Security Council. Yesterday’s operation comes in the context of defending Iran’s sovereignty and national interests, punishing the enemies, and enhancing regional security.
“The Iranian action was smart and calculated, and the Iranian drones and missiles targeted zionist military bases. We consider peace and stability in the region essential for our national security and will not hesitate to make any effort to revive stability and peace.
“The zionist entity is the one that threatens international security and stability in the region through its continuous violations and brutal crimes over the past 6 months in Gaza. Resistance is the key word for reviving peace and regional security and ending the occupation and terrorism in all its forms.”
It was reported that Iran on Saturday launched retaliatory attacks against Israel in a major new escalation in the Middle East, while this attack comes two weeks after Israel’s strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Hundreds of drones along with cruise missiles as part of Iran’s attack launched against Israel and the Israeli Defense forces establishment estimates that the drones launched from Iran was expected to reach “Israel” early Sunday between 2:00 am and 4:00 am.
Dozens of surface-to-surface missile launched were identified approaching Israeli territory as the IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted the majority of the launches using the Arrow Aerial Defense System, together with Israel’s strategic allies, before the launches crossed into Israeli territory.
Isreali forces said that a small number of hits were identified, including at an IDF base in southern Israel, where minor damage was caused to infrastructure, adding that many dozens of hostile aircraft, as well as dozens of cruise missiles, identified approaching Israeli territory from Iran and intercepted.
