Umahi join others to console Shettima over mother-in-law’s death

Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consoled with the Vice-President, Kashim Shettima and his family over the passing of Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir, his mother-in-law.

In a statement released by his aide on Monday, the President described the passing of Hajiya Maryam, who is the mother of the Vice-President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, as a deeply painful loss.


Tinubu not only mourns the deceased but also celebrates her legacies of philanthropy and good virtues.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the late Hajiya Maryam, Tinubu urged the family to take solace in the remarkable life the departed matriarch lived.
Former President, Muhammadu Buhari who seized the moment of the meeting with the Vice President in Katsina on Monday to express his deepest sympathies.

Buhari said the death of Hajiya Maryam, the mother of the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana, was extremely sad, adding that his thoughts and prayers were with the Vice President and his family at this challenging time, prayed to Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest.

Joining in this condolences is the Works Ministry, Engr David Umahi on Monday in statement sympathized with the Vice President and his dear wife, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, on the unfortunate loss of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir who passed away on 23rd June 2024 at the age of 69 years.
The Minister said Maryam Abubakar Albushir was a woman of high moral worth who worked devotedly in fostering national dialogue, social harmony, and mutual understanding in plural society.

He said the nation will miss her, but the nation’s solace is in the values of her moral legacies, which impact future generations.

While wishing her a peaceful rest, he assured the Vice President and the bereaved family of the deepest commiserations, esteemed regards and best wishes of his family, the management and staff of the Federal Ministry of Works.
