Nigerian Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, in the spirit of compassion for the Eid-el-Kabir, has visited David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu in Ebonyi State to pray and pay for bills of indigenous patients.
This is the Minister’s usual godly characteristics that inspire his penchant for improving people’s lives, reducing the sufferings of the common man in the society.
Also in keeping with the ideals of Eld al-Adha, that underscore importance of compassion, generosity towards others, community and sharing with the less fortunate.
This was contained in a statement released by his aide on Tuesday, while the Minister said, “The season calls for all to foster a sense of community and compassion for those in need”.
He used the opportunity to pray for the hospitalized and offset the hospital bills of the indigent patients in the hospital.
“This humanitarian gesture has greatly helped in saving lives, alleviating the sufferings and maintaining the human dignity of the beneficiaries”, a source said.
This is for building a flagship educational and health institution which has been described as a model project that will raise the bar in human capital development and health services.
The Health University is a centre of excellence for the treatment of heart diseases, liver problems, kidney related treatments, including kidney transplant and production of dyllizers, radiology, maternal and child health.
The social and physical environment in the university are positively influencing the performance of the students, and this gives them an edge over students of other universities in character and learning.
The statement added that the Minister, in his passion to transform the road infrastructure, again moved to inspect projects in parts of South South after spending some time with his people in his country home to mark this year’s Eid al- Kabir.
