US: $375m additional provided to meet Ukraine’s critical defense needs

The United States Government has announced additional security aid to meet Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs over the ongoing Russia’s aggressive war.

This additional assistance came during the meeting between the US President, Joe Biden and Ukraine’s President, Volodymir Zelenskyy at the G7 Summit in Japan over the weekend.



Ukraine’s Zelenskyy provided an update on the situation on the ground, and the two leaders discussed the country’s immediate military and financing needs, as well as longer-term challenges relating to reconstruction and economic recovery.

It stated further that this authorization assistance is the Biden Administration’s thirty-eighth drawdown of equipment from DoD inventories for Ukraine since August 2021.

Adding that it includes additional ammunition for U.S.-provided HIMARS, artillery rounds, anti-armor capabilities, and critical enablers valued at up to $375 million that Ukraine is using on the battlefield to push back against Russia’s unprovoked war of aggression.



While noted that the United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements.

In his statement, Secretary of State, Antony Blinken said Russia could end its war today, adding that until Russia does, the United States and its allies and partners will stand united with Ukraine, for as long as it takes.

This security assistance package includes additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons, armored medical treatment vehicles, trucks, trailers to transport heavy equipment, spare parts and other field equipment essential to strengthening Ukraine’s defenders on the battlefield.
