US, Canada consoles family of explosion victims in Istanbul’s Turkey

The United States and Canada have expressed sadness by the loss of lives to the explosion that hit the city of Istanbul in Turkey on Sunday.

The explosion which rock a busy shopping areas of the city, reportedly killed six people and scores were wounded as many feared for their lives.

According to the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken tweeted on late Sunday, said US is deeply saddened by the loss of life caused by the explosion in Istanbul Turkey.

While on behalf of the United States Government and American people extended their sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the Turkish people. “The United States stands united with our Turkish Allies”, he said.

Also, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau on his Twitter account on Monday, sent deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in the horrible attack in Istanbul.

Trudeau wished a fast and full recovery to those who were injured, adding that his thoughts are with the Turkish people in this difficult time.

Meanwhile, report has it that an explosion Sunday afternoon in a busy shopping area of Istanbul which left at least six people dead and 53 others injured, a senior Turkish official said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote, as translated, on Twitter: “Let our nation rest assured that the perpetrators of this attack will be exposed with all its elements and punished as they deserve”.

He described the blast as “treacherous attack” and said its perpetrators would be punished, Erdogan did not say who was behind the attack but said it had the “smell of terror” without offering details and also adding that was not certain yet.

Istanbul Governor, Ali Yerlikaya tweeted that the explosion occurred around 4:20 p.m. local time, while the wounded are being treated and more information will be shared at a later time, he said.

“We wish God’s mercy on those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured,” Yerlikaya tweeted on Sunday, as translated.
