US provides $300m additional package of weapons to Ukraine

The United States on Tuesday has announced an additional package of weapons and equipment for Ukraine to support the brave Ukrainian people as they defend their country and their freedom against Russia’s aggression.

Secretary of State, Antony Blinken who disclosed this in a statement released said this package provides up to $300 million of arms and equipment under previously directed drawdowns for Ukraine.

“Capabilities provided in today’s package include Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, demolitions, and small arms ammunition, and spare parts and other ancillary equipment”, he said.

Blinken revealed that the coalition of more than 50 countries United States have assembled continues to provide critical support for Ukraine’s forces, adding that additional support will come, if Congress acts on the President’s request.

“We urge the House to pass the supplemental as soon as possible to allow us to continue sending vital security assistance to Ukraine, replenish the U.S. military’s munition stocks, and invest in our industrial base”, Secretary Blinken said.

In his appreciation messages on X, the Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked United States President, Joe Biden, the Congress and the American people, saying the military aid package addresses Ukraine’s immediate needs for artillery, antitank weapons, and air defense.

He said the 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, Stingers, HIMARS munitions, antitank systems, and other equipment are critical on the battlefield and in protecting peaceful cities and infrastructure.

According to him, “Every round of ammunition saves the lives of Ukrainians who face daily attacks by Russian occupiers”, Zelensky appreciated.

The President who said he value the implementation of the agreements with President Biden, anticipated that Congress will approve the supplemental as soon as possible to help his country advance the joint victory.
