US thank Nigerian Govt over Binance officer’s release on medical ground

The United States has thanked Nigerian Government for releasing its citizen, Binance Holdings Limited Executive officer, Tigran Gambaryan on medical ground, allowing him to return to receive the specialized medical care he requires.
Secretary of State, Antony Blinken in a statement released on Thursday said this positive outcome demonstrates the strength of the U.S.-Nigeria partnership and highlights shared commitment to working together to advance both countries’ common interests.

According to him, “Our close law enforcement cooperation remains a cornerstone of our bilateral relationship, and the US is committed to working closely with the Government of Nigeria to address mutual concerns and prioritize the safety and well-being of our citizens”.
Meanwhile, report has it that the federal government of Nigeria dropped the money laundering charges against the executive of Binance Holdings Limited, Tigran Gambaryan.

Recall that in April, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged both Binance, a cryptocurrency firm, and Gambaryan with alleged money laundering.
Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen, has been in custody since February due to a crackdown on the cryptocurrency firm over alleged manipulation of the naira.

A lawyer representing the EFCC who made the announcement of the withdrawal of the charges during a session at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, clarified that Gambaryan was merely an employee of Binance and was being prosecuted for actions related to his employment.
