Video: IGP orders Seun Kuti’s arrest over assault on Police officer

Nigerian Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

In a statement released by the Force Spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Saturday, while the Police Chief equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.



In the video which has gone viral that emerged on Saturday, seen the Afro Best star pointing to the unidentified police officer before proceeding to push and slap the officer.

Reacting to this, the IGP assured Nigerians that such acts of contempt /disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.



Meanwhile, the Afro Best singer, Seun Kuti took to his Instagram page, promised to cooperate fully with the police after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered his arrest.

According to Punch, following the order for his arrest, Kuti wrote on his Instagram story, “I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”

Earlier, the afrobeat artist alleged that the police tried to kill him and his family. “I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised, I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job.”
