We paid 80,000 Ogun students nationwide N50,000 each – Abiodun

The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has revealed that his Government have paid N50,000 to approximately 80,000 Ogun State students in tertiary institutions nationwide in his quest to financial support to students across the state.

Abiodun on his social media platforms, Monday made this known while flagging-off of the sale of discounted rice to civil servants at the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

The Governor added that his Government also paid N10,000 to over 400,000 indigent students in primary and secondary schools and provided them with exercise books.

According to him, “We recognise the impact of current economic inflation and have implemented several initiatives to mitigate its effects.

“We have made concerted efforts to cushion the impact of the inflation experienced in the economy recently. We are aware of decisive steps taken by our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to free our economy and reposition our country”.

Abiodun also reported that over 1,500 people have benefited from the Govt ongoing Free Surgery Intervention Programme under his administration in Ogun State.

He said, “We have been proactive in providing free healthcare services to pregnant women, the elderly, and most vulnerable members of our society. In addition to the surgeries, we have taken several initiatives to support our citizens during these challenging times”.

Despite the challenges, the Governor urged Ogun people not to lose hope, saying the economy is showing signs of improvement, with the naira appreciating at a remarkable speed. “We are also addressing food security concerns, and soon we will provide food items at affordable prices.

“Our administration remains committed to the welfare and well-being of Ogun people. We will continue to implement initiatives aimed at improving the lives of our citizens and navigating through these challenging times together”, the Governor said.

Media Bypass News had earlier reported that Ogun State Government at the weekend, has commenced the sale of rice to civil servants in the state as parts of his commitment to the welfare of the workforce.

The flag off was made by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun while the event took place at the ‘Oja Irorun’ Civil Servants Farmers’ Market at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the State capital.

Abiodun, who was represented by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya said the occasion was a significant step in ongoing efforts of the state government at improving the living standards of workers in the state.

The Governor praised the dedication and the commitment of the workers to service, which he noted contributed immensely to the success achieved by his administration.
