Why Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech commendable – Reno Omokri

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s aide, Remo Omokri has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s speech to Nigerians on Democracy Day, June 12, 2023.

Omokri took to his social media platform on Monday to applaud the President’s speech, saying Tinubu was eloquent, displayed fluidity of thought, and had command of all issues.


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his address to the nation which was broadcasted live, reiterated his pledge to diligently fulfilling every component of his electoral pact with the people the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

Tinubu said his administration shall be faithful to equity, faithful to justice, to exercise his authority, mandate to govern with fairness, respect for the rule of law, and commitment to always uphold the dignity of all the Nigerian people.



On fuel subsidy removal, the President admitted that the decision will impose extra burden on the masses while feel their pain, he said this decision Nigerians must bear to save the country from going under and take its resources away from the stranglehold of a few unpatriotic elements.

Tinubu assured Nigerians that their sacrifice shall not be in vain, promising that his government will repay through massive investment in transportation infrastructure, education, regular power supply, healthcare and other public utilities that will improve the quality of lives.

Remo Omokri reacting to this speech, said other than the treatment meted out to the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, he cannot fault the President’s first two weeks in office.



According to Omokri, “This speech, in which he acknowledged the pains Nigerians are facing and his promise to alleviate the pains, the sustenance of subsidy removal, deft negotiations with the Nigerian Labour Congress.

“His accessibility and open door policy, balanced appointments of Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, increasing the retirement age of judges, taking charge of the leadership selection process of the 10th National Assembly.

“Signing significant bills into law, and making progress towards a single exchange rate, has established that he is a significant improvement on Buhari.

“Nevertheless, I fully support Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s petition at the Presidential Election Petition Court, and I am very hopeful that he will emerge victorious”, former President’s aide said.
