The Kebbi State Government has donated 10 brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicles to enhance security surveillance and operational efficiency along ongoing Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway corridor.

Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello Goronyo receiving the donation on behalf of the Federal Government during a ceremony held on Thursday lauded the Kebbi State Government for the gesture.

Goronyo described the donation as a clear demonstration of Kebbi State’s commitment to the success of one of the most ambitious national infrastructure projects.

He noted that enhanced security logistics will ensure uninterrupted construction activities, safeguard personnel and equipment, and support the Federal Government’s efforts to deliver safe and world-class road infrastructure.

Providing an update on the project, the Minister highlighted the significant progress recorded within Kebbi State so far, which includes: 64 kilometres of cleared right-of-way.

Also, over 30 kilometres of earthworks completed, Four kilometres of concrete dual carriageway delivered, and Five kilometres of solar streetlights already installed.
According to the statement released by his aide, the Minister emphasized that the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is designed to function as a fully serviced and secure economic corridor equipped with:

CCTV surveillance systems, Police outposts, Solar streetlights, Boreholes at five-kilometre intervals, Schools and medical centres.

These facilities, he added, will enhance mobility, reduce insecurity, and stimulate socio-economic development across the region.
Speaking earlier, Governor Nasir Idris said the donation of the Hilux vehicles represents Kebbi State’s strategic support for national security and infrastructure development.

He explained that with Kebbi hosting 258 kilometres of the highway—the longest stretch within any state—ensuring the protection of workers, communities, and construction assets is essential.

According to the Governor, “Security remains the foundation upon which all meaningful development stands. This support is our commitment to ensuring that this historic project proceeds without hindrance and delivers the full economic potential it promises.”

The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering transformative infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Government for its exemplary partnership.
