South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has concluded plan to undertake a Working Visit to Windhoek, Namibia, on Saturday, 10 February 2024, to pay his respects following the passing of the President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Hage Gottfried Geingob.

According to the statement released by the Spokesperson to the President, Vincent Magwenya on Friday, stated that Ramaphosa and Namibian President, Geingob enjoyed a close relationship which infused relations between the two countries.

Recalled that President Geingob passed away on Sunday, 04 February 2024, while being treated in hospital for cancer and his death was confirmed by his Vice, Nangolo Mbumba and was surrounded by his wife and children in his final moments.

Ramaphosa reiterated, on behalf of the Government and people of South Africa, his deep condolences to the government and people of Namibia, especially First Lady Madame Monica Geingos.

He extended his sympathies to the newly swore-in President, the former Vice President, Nangolo Mbumba, the Cabinet of the neighbouring state and the leadership and members of the SWAPO Party at this time of mourning.

The statement further stated that in 2023, Ramaphosa hosted President Geingob to a State Visit to South Africa in April, while in October, South African President undertook a Working Visit to Namibia to co-chair with President Geingob the Third Session of the South.
