President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms are demonstrating tangible success, with significant milestones achieved that signal a promising future for Nigeria’s economy.

This was the key message delivered by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a recent visit from the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.

Idris highlighted a pivotal achievement: “For the first time in 13 years, Nigeria’s foreign reserves have crossed the 50-billion-dollar mark.”

He further emphasized the country’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, a development he believes sends “a strong signal to investors around the world that Nigeria is open and ready for legitimate business.”

The Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Idris affirmed, is dedicated to amplifying the Federal Government’s policies and programs, particularly those designed to bolster the nation’s economic environment and attract crucial investment.

He underscored the Ministry’s vital role in ensuring both Nigerians and international community fully grasp the reforms being implemented by this administration and the economic opportunities they are creating.
“The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation is always about servicing you, amplifying the work that you do, and ensuring that we ventilate some of those programmes and policies so that Nigerians and people outside Nigeria will really understand what it is that you do,” Idris stated, reiterating the govt’s commitment to transparency and public understanding.

Furthermore, Idris stressed the administration’s decisive actions to strengthen critical infrastructure essential for industrialization, including comprehensive reforms in the power sector aimed at ensuring a more reliable electricity supply for businesses and industries.

He assured continued support in communicating these government reforms and actively promoting Nigeria’s investment opportunities on a global scale.
Earlier in the discussion, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, articulated the purpose of her visit: to fortify collaboration with the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

This partnership is crucial as Nigeria intensifies its drive for greater industrialization, expanded trade, and increased non-oil exports.

Dr. Oduwole elaborated on her ministry’s strategic focus, which includes unlocking global and regional demand for Nigerian products, strengthening domestic industrial capacity, and mobilizing strategic investment to underpin economic transformation.

She emphasized the collective responsibility of the administration to communicate these achievements. “Telling our story is a responsibility for us as an administration.
“With all that we have done in the last three years, it is important to amplify the concrete evidence of the reforms that have been implemented,” Oduwole remarked, highlighting the importance of showcasing tangible progress.

She also pointed to Nigeria’s proactive engagement in regional and global trade initiatives, such as African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), as integral to positioning Nigerian businesses to compete effectively in both regional and international markets.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation; Jibrin Baba Ndace, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON).

Also, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, Director-General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN); Barr. Henshaw Ogubike, Director, Public Communication; Suleiman Haruna, PhD, Director, Public Relations and Protocol; Mrs. A. P. Okala, Special Adviser to the Minister of Trade and Investment; and other senior officials.
