Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting its operatives and upholding the rule of law, following two separate incidents where its personnel violently assaulted during lawful duties.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, in a statement released, has strongly condemned these acts of aggression, emphasizing that offenders will face the full weight of the law.

In the first incident, which occurred on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at ECWA Junction, Karu, a patrol team leader was violently attacked during a routine morning operation.

The offender, identified as Abdulkadri Adamu, operating an overloaded Nissan Almera (registration number YAB 796 EQ), resisted lawful arrest.

Reports indicate that Adamu forcefully threw the officer to the ground, causing serious injuries, including suspected
fractures.

The injured officer was immediately rushed to a medical facility in Karu, where he.received emergency treatment and is currently undergoing further medical evaluation.
Following swift intervention by members of the public, Adamu was apprehended and handed over to the Police. He was subsequently arraigned in court, where he did not deny the charges.

The presiding judge found him guilty and sentenced him to a two-week remand, set to elapse on April 23, 2026.

The second incident, also on Thursday, April 16, 2026, involved a recalcitrant traffic offender, Suleiman Abubakar, apprehended along the Nasarawa‒Keffi route.
Abubakar, driving a Toyota Previa (registration number KMC 566CY), was initially flagged down for overloading.

Further checks revealed he was driving without a valid driver’s license and
attempted to bribe FRSC operatives.

In a shocking escalation, Abubakar forcefully abducted the Patrol Team Leader while attempting to evade arrest.
The officer courageously resisted and successfully neutralized the situation after vehicle had traveled approximately 3 kilometers from the patrol point.

Abubakar was arrested, his vehicle impounded, and he was handed over to the Nigeria Police, Nasarawa Division, for prosecution.

At the court hearing, he pleaded guilty to all five charges. Consequently, presiding Magistrate ordered his remand at the Nasarawa Correctional Centre for seven days, pending judgment scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Reacting to these incidents, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed deep concern over the rising trend of attacks on personnel.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ resolve to ensure the safety and welfare of its officers and men, stressing that any act of aggression against FRSC personnel will be met with decisive prosecution.

Mohammed commended the Judiciary forits swift actions, stating that the Corps is steadily winning the fight against assault on its operatives.

The Corps Marshal further called on motorists to respect constituted authorities, cooperate with enforcement officers, emphasizing that operatives are on the roads to save lives and ensure safer highways for Nigerians.

He warned that the Corps will not
tolerate any form of obstruction, assault, or violence against its personnel.
