President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has accepted the nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential flagbearer for the 2027 election, marking a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
In a powerful address delivered at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre on Sunday, the President articulated vision of continuity, consolidation, and unwavering commitment to national progress.
Recalling his journey from an aspirant in 2022 to the nation’s leader, Tinubu
expressed profound gratitude for the enduring support and confidence of the Nigerian people.
“Today, I return as your incumbent President—humbled by your enduring support, encouraged by your continued confidence, and imbued with renewed passion for the tasks ahead,” he stated.
The President emphasized that the current task is to affirm continuity, consolidate reforms, secure progress, and strengthen the foundation of a modern Nigeria.
Tinubu highlighted significant strides made under his administration across various sectors. In education, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund has disbursed over N282 billion, benefiting more than 1.5 million youths.
The power sector has seen a closure of the metering gap with 2.5 million meters supplied, and power generation sometimes peaking at 6000MW, a 50 percent increase from what was inherited.
Economic reforms, including the
removal of wasteful fuel subsidies and unstable exchange rates, have led to a strengthening Naira, rising foreign reserves, and a positive economic outlook, despite global inflationary
pressures.
Infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of his agenda, with concrete roads and superhighways under construction, and improvements to airports and seaports.
The oil and gas sector has been reformed, attracting billions in fresh investment. Furthermore, social investment and human capital programs continue to target vulnerable households, youth, women, and small businesses, fostering national unity and a sense of belonging.
Acknowledging the persistent challenges of rising costs, economic adjustments, and security concerns, President Tinubu assured Nigerians of his government’s dedication. “We do not dismiss these concerns; we understand them and govern not in comfort, but in reality with honesty and action,” he affirmed.
He detailed intensified efforts to strengthen security architecture, support armed forces, and address root causes of insecurity, while also advocating for the creation of State police.
With renewed resolve, President Tinubu pledged to serve the nation with even greater determination. His mission is clear: to build a Nigeria where every life and property is secure, enterprise thrives, workers earn with dignity, young people find opportunity, and farmers prosper.
The extended a hand of partnership and dialogue to political opponents,
emphasizing that democracy is sustained by diversity and a shared belief in the nation.
“This next election must not merely be a contest of parties or ideas, but a reaffirmation of Nigeria’s democratic maturity,” the President urged, calling for collective effort and patriotism to consolidate gains and tackle challenges.
With faith in God and confidence in
the people, he accepted the nomination, promising an inclusive government that listens, learns, and leads with the best interests of all Nigerians at heart, aiming for a more secure, united, prosperous Nigeria for generations to come.
