The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored electricity supply to several communities in Kano following the successful repair and re-energisation of a 40MVA transformer at the Kwanar Dangora Transmission Substation.
The transformer, which serves affected 33kV feeders under the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC), was restored at 5:02 p.m. on September 24, 2026, after engineers replaced a faulty 170kVA earthing transformer and completed the necessary technical checks.
TCN said the repair has enabled the resumption of power supply to affected customers, while appreciating their patience during the outage.
Meanwhile, the company has announced a scheduled six-hour preventive maintenance operation at the Katampe 1 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
The exercise, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., will affect the Katampe–Gwarinpa 132kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply customers in parts of Dawaki, Dutse Alhaji, Gwarinpa, Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Jiwa, Suleja Township, Madalla, Zuba and surrounding areas.
TCN apologized for the inconvenience and assured residents that the maintenance is necessary to improve the reliability of electricity transmission.
