Borno State Gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was reportedly engaged in a physical fight with the immediate PDP governorship aspirant, Alhaji Mohammed Imam and other party stakeholders.
According to a witness, a fight ensued in the meeting at Abuja while working out strategies for the visit of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to Borno State.
In attendance at the meeting were the State’s PDP factional chairman Zanna Gaddama and other critical stakeholders that includes Dagash, Wurge ‚ Inna Chiroma, Imam, Durkwa, and Msheliza.
The section of Borno PDP led by the factional Chairman, Zanna Gaddama who has the backing of the former gubernatorial aspirant of the party, Mohammed Imam alleged that since the emergence of Jajari as the Governorship candidate party officials and the founding fathers of the party are being sidelined.
A member of the State exco of the PDP who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity alledged that their Governorship Candidate, Mohammed Ali Jajari brought his cronies to manage sensitive party affairs.
According to him, the lackadaisical attitude of the governorship candidate and his partial treatment of the party excos he perceived to be with Mohammed Imam led to the initial exclusion of Borno indigenes from the presidential campaign council.
“ You may recall that until after we were mocked in social media that non among Borno’s exco members and stakeholders was worthy of being appointed to the campaign council. The national headquarters made some amendments to select few Borno indigenes.” PDP exco said.
He added, “the governorship candidate (Jajari) since the primaries doesn’t feel comfortable with some of us, especially those close to Imam. If you can remember, a couple of months ago he instigated an internal fight in the party’s state chapter where some of his cronies attempted to remove the Chairman, Zanna Gaddama”.
However, several attempts by our correspondent to reach the Borno PDP Governorship candidate improve abortive, as several calls to his telephone number were not responded to.
