Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna has presented a proposal to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on the need to train its (NYSC’s) staff on emotional intelligence.
In a statement released by Scheme when the NDA presented the motion to the Director General of NYSC at the Scheme’s National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja on Wednesday
The Head, Centre for Study of Leadership and Complex Military Operations of NDA, Dr. Ben J. Audu said the training becomes necessary, taking into cognizance evolving challenges in managing human resources at the workplace.
He urged NYSC to buy the idea as it’s outcome will manifest in improved productivity of the workforce.
Responding, the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed welcomed the proposal, stating that the training is a sure way of enhancing the capacity of staff to carry out their duties more efficiently.
He therefore directed Planning, Research and Statistics department and the team from NDA to work out modalities for commencing the training.
NYSC, NYWEE joins forces in women empowerment
Also, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has agreed to join forces with National Youth for Women Empowerment and Education in Nigeria (NYWEE) in empowering women in Nigeria.
The Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen YD Ahmed disclosed this in his office at Yakubu Gowon House, Maitama, Abuja, while playing host to the leadership of NYWEE, who came on a courtesy visit recently.
The NYSC boss who stated that the girl-child is a bundle of blessings to any society reiterated that the Scheme has over the years empowered thousands of women through its Skill Acquisition and Enterpreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress made by NYWEE in giving succour to indigent women and girls across the country, and promised that the two organizations will form a formidable partnership that will put smiles on the faces of more vulnerable women.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of NYWEE, Ambassador Ibrahim Ibrahim read out the objectives of the non-governmental organization which include: promotion of school enrollment.
Others are offering free skill Acquisition training and start-up capital, combating drug abuse, curbing domestic violence, fight against child trafficking with NAPTIP etc, all geared towards women emancipation.
At the end of the interactive session, NYWEE decorated the NYSC helmsman as Icon of women empowerment in Nigeria.
