Sierra Leonean President, Julius Maada Bio has welcomed Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Authority of Heads of State and Government (ECOWAS), hailed his election as being Chairman.
The President took to his Twitter handle to congratulate Nigerian President while joining other Heads of State at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government which was held in Bissau, Guinea Bissau.
President Tinubu was elected as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government at the Sixty-Third Ordinary Session of the Authority held on July 09, 2023, in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.
Bio also thanked the immediate past Chairman, His Excellency President Umaro Sissco Embalo of Guinea- Bissau for his excellent stewardship of the Community and for being a gracious host.
S’Leone’s President said during session, the Heads of State addressed sub-regional issues pertinent to peace, security, stability, and regional integration to maintain growth momentum and consolidate socio-economic gains for our people and the well-being of the Community.
He added that his country unequivocally welcomes the Community’s strides in education, agriculture, mining, water, energy, and infrastructure development.
Bio noted that S’Leone remain committed to translating these strides into meaningful and gainful employment, especially for the youth, that will improve the quality of life of his people and positively impact the region.
Also, Nigerian President, Tinubu has expressed gratitude to his distinguished colleagues for the honour of being elected as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Tinubu on tweets, said the development is a noteworthy affirmation of Nigeria’s continued leadership in the sub-region and the African continent.
As Chairman, he renewed his dedication and that of Nigeria to the cause of peace and progress, fostering the collaboration and commitment required to tackle trans-border issues of security, economic growth and sustainable development.
The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of fifteen countries, founded 1975 in Lagos Nigeria.
Its mission is to promote economic integration in “all fields of economic activity, particularly industry, transport, telecommunications, energy, agriculture, natural resources, commerce, monetary and financial questions, social and cultural matters.
