Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has condemned the attack launched on the husband of the United States Speaker of the House of Representatives, Paul Pelosi at the couple’s home early on Friday.
Trudeau who made this known on his Twitter account while reacting to the attack, joined American people in wishing him full recovery, adding that he is keeping Paul, his wife, the Speaker and the entire family in his thought.
According to his Twitter statement, Canada’s PM said, “The attack on Paul Pelosi is appalling and completely unacceptable, and I condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms.
“I join the American people in wishing him a full recovery – I’m keeping him, @SpeakerPelosi, and their entire family in my thoughts”, Trudeau said.
Meanwhile, report has it that Paul Pelosi, the husband of United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was “violently assaulted” after a break-in at the couple’s home early on Friday, in a statement from the office of the Speaker.
It stated further that the assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation as the Speaker’s husband was taken to the hospital where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery.
The report stressed that the Democratic House speaker, Nancy Pelosi the second in line to the United States Presidency, was not at home at the time of the early morning assault.
“Speaker Pelosi and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time,” her Spokesman said.
Paul Pelosi is a businessman who manages his own real estate and venture capital investment firm, Financial Leasing Services, based in San Francisco.
He met the Speaker, Nancy D’Alesandro who is now Pelosi when both were students in Washington DC, and they married in 1963 have five children.
Nancy Pelosi has had two spells as Speaker of the US House, between 2007 to 2011 and since January 2019. She represents California’s 12th Congressional District.
