The 2007 set of Baptist Secondary School, Liberty Road, Oke Ado, Ibadan have concluded plans to hold their annual reunion program that holds every 26th December commemorated as Boxing Day.
This was revealed by the forthcoming program’s Chairman, Abiola Bakare, to the ex-classmates stating that plans outlined for the reunion program include visitation to Motherless babies home, empowerment of some old classmates and merriment.
This he said, is to ensure the positive lasting effect of the program and to further dismiss the insinuation that reunion programs are meant to monitor people’s progress hinting that a committee has been set up for the actualization of the agenda outlined for the 2024 reunion program.
Speaking further, Abiola said there are social media platforms in which discussions hold on every aspect of life but quarrels usually separate them stressing that nothing is achieved in a state of anarchy.
He added that several members left the groups and were re-included only to be informed that caucuses exists on the group emphasizing that nobody knows tomorrow and that if differences are not settled amicably at the appropriate time, then seeds of discord would be sown.
The Chairman added that for the forthcoming program, there would be an affordable stipulated amount for members but that whoever can not afford such amount can still attend because fingers are not equal.
Dismissing the fact that some members would feel intimidated, Bakare added that there will be gender balance stressing that previous reunion programs have been chaired by both male and female.
According to him, “the first reunion program tagged meet and greet was held at Top one garden located at Podo in Ibadan and the hall used was given free of charge by one of the set’s member whose Father owns the relaxation spot.
“The second one held at Academy Hotel and Suites where members had games, engaged in swimming activities and even revealed hilarious moments back in the secondary school adjudged as one of the best moments of educational levels.
“The third one held at the Empire Lounge on Liberty Road where ex classmates joined in the festive season and to deliberate on members welfare.
“The fourth one held at a lounge on Ring road and had some teachers in attendance who implored the members to be of good behavior as the school despite being a public school is often described as a private school.
“The fourth one was conducted at the Nigerian Union of Journalists Hall on Iyaganku road and witnessed the cutting of cake, dances, merriment and also signboard’s donation to the school which was applauded by the principal, teachers and students.
To this end, Abiola Bakare said “we are leaving no stone unturned in giving this year’s reunion program a lasting memory as the anthem of the school which goes thus “We are students with a great mission, Baptist Secondary School, Oke Ado, in the great city of Ibadan, stand the great giant, that is our pride”.
“Gracious God, give us Grace, to be worthy students of the school, Gracious God, give us strength, to serve mankind and our nation right. Up school, blue and white, Blue and White, up school, must be accomplished, the chairman concluded.
