The President of the United States, Joe Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris have reacted to the assassination attempt on former President, Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday.

On X, the President said he have been briefed by his team regarding what law enforcement is investigating as a possible assassination attempt of former President Trump.

He confirmed that the suspect is in custody, and commended work of the Secret Service and their law enforcement partners for their vigilance and their efforts to keep the former President and those around him safe.
Biden said, “I am relieved that the former President is unharmed. There is an active investigation into this incident as law enforcement gathers more details about what happened.

“As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country, and I have directed my team to continue to ensure that Secret Service has every resource, capability and protective measure necessary to ensure the former President’s continued safety”.

The Vice President, in a statement said, “I am deeply disturbed by possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today. As we gather the facts, I will be clear: I condemn political violence. We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more to violence.
Harris who was thankful that the former President is safe, commended U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement partners for their vigilance.

According to her, “As President Biden said, our Administration will ensure the Secret Service has every resource, capability and protective measure necessary to carry out its critical mission”.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Sunday that it is investigating “what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.”
“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the help of Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Trump occurred shortly before 2 p.m.,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.

Law enforcement officials said United States Secret Service agents spotted and fired on a gunman in some bushes near the property line who dropped an AK-47-style assault rifle and was arrested after fleeing the scene.

Trump is safe following the incident, his campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement, while Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris expressed relief her political rival was out of danger, according to report.
