Biden host Kenya’s Ruto to dinner at White House, Washington

The United States President, Joe Biden and First Lady, Jill Biden on Thursday evening played host to the Kenya’s President, William Ruto on a State Dinner at the White House, Washington DC.

Kenyan President, Ruto who and his entourage came to United States on a State visit to celebrate 60 years of both countries relationship had a roundtable on technology with United States President earlier.

He lauded the United States for putting more resources into the digital space, saying this will expand opportunities and transform lives not only in Kenya but also across Africa. “No partnership is as valuable as one that is anchored on technology”.

Speaking during the State Dinner, Kenyan leader said the State Visit to United States of America has reinforced enduring friendship, solidarity and mutual endeavours that have united the two nations, adding that the partnership between both countries have yielded significant achievements over the past 60 years.

Ruto said these accomplishments have kept both nations strong, effective, and dynamic in their collective pursuit of freedom, equality and prosperity. “We are proud of our robust ties and the shared values which form a strong bond of friendship,” he said.

United States President, Joe Biden who welcomed Kenyan President and his wife, Reheal Ruto to America said Together, the US and Kenya working to deliver on challenges that matter most to its people’s lives: health security, economic security, cybersecurity, and climate security.
He hailed Ruto, saying his bold leadership on the front has been important, significantly impactful, adding that ninety percent Kenya’s electricity comes from clean energy. “That’s worth an applause. Over 1 million homes are powered by wind energy alone.  That’s worth applause, too. 

Biden said to Kenyan President, “An historic Africa Green Industrialization Initiative, which you launched last year, is poised to create similar results in so many other nations, particularly in the continent”.

The President noted that across the region, Kenya and America are driving a race to the top with investments that’ve high standards for workers, technology, and environment. “And we’re working to ensure debt doesn’t leave these critical investments and crucial investments out of reach for low- and middle-income countries”.

Among the attendees for the State dinner were Alice P. Albright, Chief Executive Officer, Millennium Challenge Corporation and Mr. Gregory B. Bowes, Elizabeth E. Alexander, Deputy Assistant to President, Com Director for the First Lady and Mr. David Wade.
