In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has conducted precise strikes on military targets in Iran overnight.
On Oct. 1, Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. The initial strike targeted a barracks or office and a weapons depot near Tehran, two senior Arab officials told NBC News.
The IDF on X said, “The strike was conducted in response to the attacks by the Iranian regime against the State of Israel and its citizens in recent months.
Adding that, “The retaliatory strike has been completed and the mission was fulfilled and our planes have safely returned home.
It revealed that based on intelligence, aircraft struck missile on manufacturing facilities used to produce the missiles that Iran fired at the State of Israel over last year. “These missiles posed a direct and immediate threat to the citizens of the State of Israel”.
It also revealed that simultaneously, the airstrike struck surface-to-air missile arrays and additional Iranian aerial capabilities, that were intended to restrict Israel’s aerial freedom of operation in Iran.
“Iran fired hundreds of missiles directly toward the State of Israel during two attacks in April and October, funds, directs terrorist activity through its terror proxies throughout the Middle East, in order to attack the State of Israel and its citizens.
“Alongside Iran’s efforts to attack the State of Israel, Iran acts undermine regional stability and security, and global economy. IDF has a range of offensive operational capabilities, some of which were deployed during the strikes on strategic assets deep within Iranian territory.
“The State of Israel reserves the right to defend its citizens if Iranian regime continue attacks against the State of Israel and its civilians. The IDF is conducting ongoing situational assessments, ready to conduct defensive and offensive action”, it said.
IDF Spokesman who confirmed the strike said, “We’ve concluded the Israeli response to Iran’s attacks against Israel, we conducted targeted precise strikes on military targets in Iran, thwarting immediate threats to the State of Israel.”
Report says, the strikes came as Israel intensified its campaigns in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon while Secretary of State, Antony Blinken finished a whirlwind trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia, where attempted to get Hamas and Israel to agree a cease-fire and calm spiraling tensions that have raised fears of a region-wide war.
Also, a senior Biden administration official has said that so far Israel’s strikes appear to be limited to military targets and do not include nuclear or energy hubs.
During his trip this week to the region, Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to limit the targets, stressing that doing so could help end the cycle without escalating into a wider war.
A second official had said before the strike, the U.S. knew Israel had to retaliate but was urging Israel not to hit the more sensitive targets in hopes of breaking the retaliatory cycle.
